A company that do not honor their CONTRACT.
This may happened to us but it may happened to You too........
I can't imagine that a Big Organisation can do these kind of things.
I wonder is there any justice , fairness and human rights in Singapore
If there is, voice out for us because we can't afford a lawyer
And every single cents are important to us at these bad times.

KNOW THE DESPERATE TO GET A JOB AND THE DESPERATE OF HAVING THE GRATUITY.
A COMPANY THAT DO NOT HONOR THE CONTRACT DECIDED NOT TO PAY YOU.
THEY EXTEND YOUR CONTRACT AS THEY LIKE AND LET YOU DIE AS SOON AS
THEY DON'T NEED YOU.
ARE THE COMPANY OR GOVERNMENT GOING TO FEED YOU OR ARE YOU GOING
TO FIND A JOB AND PLAN FOR YOUR FUTURE AT THIS VERY BAD TIMES.
COMPANY THINKING FOR SOMETHING THAT MIGHT BENEFIT THEM AND GETTING
RID OF THOSE WHO COMPLAINT.
DO YOU THINK IT IS EASY TO GET A JOB THESE DAYS ESPECIALLY WHEN TWO
HUNDRED OVER CONTRACT STAFFS SEARCHING FOR THE SAME JOBS. HOW ABOUT THOSE
NOT FROM THE SAME COMPANY. THEY MAY BE SEARCHING FOR THE SAME JOB.
AFTER THE CONTRACT, YOU CAN'T EVEN GO FOR THE SIMILAR JOBS.

Dec 1998, inform by Singapore Technologies Computer Systems and Services, Ministry of Education Project
Department Manager MR. TAN HOW KENG that the company was not going to extend the Ministry of Eduaction
CONTRACT but the company opt for a NEW CONTRACT.
Our Contract stated that if the Ministry of Education were to extend one year contract with Singapore Technologies
Computer, we will get our gratuity after 17 Feb 2000. If there's no one year extension, then we will get the
gratuity at the end of 17 Feb 1999.
However, the Ministry of education decided not to extend one year but for two months plus only. So, the Contract
Staffs will not get the full gratuity unless the staffs extend the contract which is not stated in the Contract.
In the contract, the company only mentioned one year extension and not two months plus.
So, on what ground do they have the right to extend our contract by not honoring the Contract.
Can a Public Listed Company do this kind of things....Should the public buy and keep their shares when they can't
even handle the problem effectively. And how can they get the ISO 9000 certificate.
As we know, we need to give the company one month notice to resign and why not the company give us one month
notice to extend our contract.
Our contract ends on 17 Feb 1999, and in less than a week or so, we were informed of the 2 months extension. As far
as I know, there are quite a number of the contract staffs had already found a job and have some other future
plans.
These extension came as a surprise as what Mr. Tan How Keng had told us in Dec.1998 earlier on.
Having called the Department manager Mr. Tan How Keng about the extension and the gratuity, Mr. Tan told me that
the company will not pay the full gratuity to us unless we complete the extension period and the extension
may be extended again if the Ministry request for it. For those who found a job, he said that this is the staffs's problem
and not the company's problem. Next, I told him that I will bring up to Ministry of Manpower about these matters. he ask me
to go ahead. Can't imagine that a PUBLIC LISTED COMPANY can do what anything that benefit the company and do not care about the
life and death of the Staffs.
So in future, how can the workers and employees work for them especially
when they do not do things in a manner which they have
said and how to have trust in whatever SINGAPORE TECHNOLOGIES have said.
I was also told to keep quiet if I still wants my gratuity. The Zone Leaders also told the rest of the Staffs to
keep quiet if they want the gratuity. Is these threatening or what...?
An urgent meeting was called for on 11 Feb 1999 and we were brief about what happened. In the Question & Answer
section, we asked a lot of questions which I think they were not answering directly and keep
pushing aside certain problems. A same question was ask about what if Ministry extend another months when the present extension
ending. The answer was to extend follow the Ministry request and gratuity will be paid when there's no extension
only.
How can the company do these? Why not extend our contract day by day and just terminate us whenever they like...?
The Question and Answer section ended without giving us time to ask and the answers were not answer directly. Are they
trying to avoid something or what...?
Another extension document was given to us to sign by not giving us time to consider.. someting like take it or leave
it.
The General Manager Mr Pang Yang Oon seens very frustrated to me because of my complaint to Ministry of Manpower and
to others.
12 Feb 1999, Department Manager called me at about 9.00 am and said that I had been absent without leave during my school terms in
Rulang Primary School. As far as I'm concern, whatever leave I had were submitted and accounted. The most funniest thing is
that I'm was absent from school which I think they do not know that it's a public holiday. As for the rest, some was Off granted
by HOD IT and for GOD's sake, the Principal likes to twist her words. If you don't believe it ask the teachers. The matters were
closed after I left the school and all absent were already accounted for. So why brought it up again, just to chase me away
and even threatened to terminate me immediately. ( I have withnesses for my account )
And this happened last year about few months ago and why they drag it out now and not last year. Now, just because
I complaint to Ministry of Manpower, they accused me of absent without leave. Actions will also be taken against me for complaining.
To me, these may be some kind of revenge or plot that they want, just not to pay me the gratuity which I
deserved.
